Using Our Products

Our products are created to work in Poser (made by Smith Micro) and DAZ Studio (made by DAZ 3D). These programs are 3D CGI rendering and animation software optimized for models that depict human/animal figures and sets or props in three-dimensional form. They are mostly used to pose and animate the figures in a similar way as a mannequin.

Both of these programs  allow users to manipulate "ready to use" models and figures. They are aimed at users who are interested in posing human and non-human figures for illustrations and animation, but who do not wish to incur the expense of, or who may be daunted by higher-end 3D and CAD software.

Both programs have a simple user interface allowing the user to add and manipulate models within the scene, add and manipulate morphs (body-shape changes), adjust the textures applied to models, add and adjust lighting and to fine-tune the render process.

Our products come either in a zipped folder format that needs to be extracted to a application-specific location on your computer, or as an installer which will put the files in the correct locations on your computer automatically.

Installing zipped content for use in DAZ Studio

If the content is Poser-compatible, it will contain a "Runtime" folder - this folder should be merged with the "Runtime" folder found in the DAZ Studio "My Library" folder. By default this folder is found in "Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library" on a Mac, and "My Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library" on a PC.

In DAZ Studio, the content will be found in the "Content Library" tab under "Poser Content".

If the content is DAZ Studio only, it will have a "My Library" folder - this folder should be merged with the "My Library" folder mentioned above. In DAZ Studio, the content will be found in the "Content Library" tab under "DAZ Studio Content".

Installing zipped content for use in Poser

Note: Some of our products are now available in iClone format too, but are not directly supported by 3D Universe as they are converted by Reallusion.
